What is PCOS?
Polycystic ovary syndrome or PCOS is an extremely common endocrine disorder in women of reproductive age. Hormone changes that lead to PCOS often start in the early teens, after the first menstrual period. Symptoms may be especially noticeable after a weight gain. Symptoms include irregular periods, hair loss, acne, fertility problems, insulin resistance, obesity, skin tags, depression and mood swings.
Have you already been diagnosed with PCOS?
Diagnosing PCOS is a tricky process, since there is no particular test for PCOS specifically. If you’ve already undergone the entire medical process of elimination which led to your being diagnosed with PCOS, then you’ve likely already been through a lot of emotional stress and frustration. However, a diagnosis is the first step in your physical healing and emotional recovery. PCOS Wellness has been created for women like you to help you navigate and take control of your own health and happiness.
PCOS Wellness was created by health psychologist and PCOS patient, Gretchen Kubacky, Psy.D. Dubbed “The PCOS Psychologist”, Dr. Gretchen has become a prominent expert in an area of Women’s Health that requires such an integrative approach to wellness. Dr. Gretchen understands that often the missing piece in a PCOS patient’s health and wellness plan is the emotional and mental component. Without it, healing is incomplete and happiness can seem impossible.
Many PCOS patients feel a full spectrum of emotions upon diagnosis. Shock, relief, anger, shame, confusion, sadness, anxiety, and feeling a loss of control are completely normal responses. Know that you are not alone. PCOS Wellness can help you take charge of your present and your future.
